EYFS
Welcome to class Plym!
Class Plym is a warm, welcoming and a friendly place for your child’s first year of school. We ensure that the children have a range of stimulating experiences and plenty of their own learning time to consolidate their own knowledge. We have a mixture of adult-led and child-initiated sessions to ensure that the children are receiving the appropriate learning in line with the Early Learning Goal statements that they are expected to achieve by the end of their first school year. These come from the seven areas of learning:
Communication and language
Physical development
Personal, social and emotional development
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
We have two lovely outdoor areas where the children get to continue their learning – both of which have beautiful views of the Cornish countryside and the stunning sea as well as our wonderful field that is full of dens that the children can enjoy and a variety of fruit bushes and trees. We also have an open door policy and are available to meet and greet the children as we believe that strong parental relationships allow us all to have your child’s interests at the heart of everything.
Phonics
Phonics is a part of our daily routine and we follow a program called Phonics Bug which is continued throughout Key Stage One for a consistent approach. It is interactive and full of songs, games and plenty of opportunities for the children to get involved and have a go – with very positive results!
In the Autumn term we will invite you to come in and observe a Phonics lesson where you can learn about how we teach systematic phonics in class to your child and how you can assist with this at home. We will offer lots of exciting strategies and games to enable you to continue to support your child's learning outside of the classroom in a fun and engaging way.
